    Description

    Very expressive Large african Suku Kakungu mask, Congo.
    This type of mask represents the source of all fertility.
    Hand carved from a single piece of wood, with groove decoration and Raffia hair.
    Height: 72 cm.
    Large mask with raffia and carved teeth. Worn by the leader of the initiation of boys during their isolaltion period. This isolation period may last up to one year and terminates with circumcision. During this time, they learn about history, agriculture and hunting as well as how to behave in their community.
