    Hemba - Luba - Songye Living on the left bank of the Lualaba River, the Kusu have been strongly influenced by their neighbours. From the Hemba and the Luba they borrowed recognisable features and ideals related to ancestor worship. The Hemba also provided the model for Janiform statuettes of the Kabeja type and for head loads. The Songye contributed the way to insert magical substances into the head or abdomen of the sculptures.
