This African mask is faithful to the stylistic canons of the Chokwe, a people from Angola. The mask was sculpted with great delicacy, with a high rounded forehead, traditional scarifications on the face, eyes stretched out to the edges in the shape of a heart and fine chiselling of the teeth. The feminine ideal is well represented in this work, where natural beauty is wonderfully expressed.
