    Striped masks or kifwebe masks are used as traditional agents and authority figures to exert social and political control through evil magical masks and witchcraft by members of the Bwadi Bwa Kifwebe Mask Society. There are three types of masks that we make public appearances: two types of masks for men and one type of masks for women. The male masks are characterized by a striped pattern of three colours, while the females are predominantly white with black and some red features... The kifwebe tradition that also exists among the Luba seems to have originated in the southern emirates of the east and is a Area with Luba/Songe mix. Matsuno people confirm this origin by explaining that the kifwebe stripes (in addition to the zebra) refer to the aggressive striped antelope that inhabited the area.
