These items original from an Estate sale in Tallahassee, the formal owner was a hugh mask collector. all masks are very ornate and feature many unique characteristics including embossed aluminum plates and different style of wood carving, made in Ghana carved wood metal accents. measures approximately 11.5" tall, 10" wide and 3" deep. History of Ashanti tribe of Ghana: The Ashanti mask comes from the Akan people group in Ghana.the masks are used for initiation ceremonies and masquerade performances, they are used in religious and social events to represent the spirits of ancestors. The masks are believed to bridge the gap between the spiritual realm and the physical realm, bringing the spirits of the ancestors and other entities to life through their usage. The masks are in very good condition for their ages with original leather loops.
