Antique Central American Hand Carved Wooden/Tortoise Shell Face Mask

This is an antique
hand carved wooden mask with tortoise shell from Central America. I believe it dates early 1900's. The wood is unknown to me but it is a very light weight wood. What appears to be tortoise shell runs from ear to ear around the chin. The mask is about 8-1/4" tall from top of head to bottom of tortoise shell, 6-1/2" wide at widest point and about 4-1/2" from back of head to front of nose. There are no cracks or breaks, just normal aging and wear from use. To me the face resembles an Aztec Indian.
