Here is a charming early nineteenth century large figural group, modeled in Meissen porcelain, in the form of an young hunter with two eager dogs, by a hollow tree trunk which also serves as a vase. First rate modeling and painting. Crossed swords Meissen mark of the form used in the Marcolini Period (late eighteenth to early 19th century) in underglaze blue reinforced in gold. It also has a collector's label from the John Barrymore Collection. Note the period patch marks on the base.
The large figural group is 15 inches tall by 14 inches wide by 11 inches deep and weighs approximately 20 lbs (shipping weight 30 lbs).
Condition: Excellent, no damage visible under white light or black light, save for a flake off the inside rim of the base, as shown (near the collector's label), and some very minor losses from the green 'coleslaw' & floral base decoration. Please see the detail photos.
