    The traditional Lega masks enjoy a naturally advantageous aesthetic by their ovoid shape with graphic features. The copy offered here stands out even more visually and culturally. Indeed, authentic Lega masks with horns are rather rare. This one, in a very good state of preservation, was worn on the face during initiation rites away from the village. The meaning of the horns is not known with certainty, but animal representations exist in the Lega body of art. It is therefore possible that a teaching is instilled in a metaphorical way via an animal image through a mask
