Ex-Belgian mask African art collection. Surmounted by bird figures, this African mask yogurt sports a hairstyle incised with braids, divided into three, symbolizing prosperity. Traditional scarifications are called "ngole". This mask from Côte d'Ivoire also currently appears during festivities. Locally abraded satin patina, minimal chips. The Yaouré form a sub-group of the Akan people present in Côte d'Ivoire mask and Ghana mask , neighbors of the Baoulé and the Gouros mask . Theirreciprocal influences manifest themselves in traditional sculpture. The masks of African art Yaouré, or Yauré, of which the Baoulé have similar models, are divided into two groups which are difficult to differentiate, the je , sometimes with the addition of colored pigments, and the lo , generally with a dark patina, which occur during funeral ceremonies or any otherrite in order to win favors from the "Yu" spirits.
