    Description

Vintage Bakota Reliquary Guardian African Tribal Sculpted Figure
The Kota used reliquary guardian figures and mounted them on containers made of bark and basketry to protect reics of impotance and the revered bones of family ancestors.
This sculpted figure is a mixed medium wall statue. The guardian is hand carved out of wood. The helmet is painted black, brass and red circles. Eyes and mouth are round brass.
The face and above is covered in tin in a diamond pattern.
There's a small tear in corner (see pic).
The diamond shape below the neck is an abstracted body form.
Handcrafted and painted in Ghana. Ready to hang. The figure is structurally sound. Any imperfections are part of the artist's original work.
    Measures 22 1/2"(L) x 8 1/2"(W) x 2 1/2"(H).
