    Description

    This is a traditional Gurage hide-covered container from Ethiopia into which the carriers would put items.  The interior is made of woven grass, and the exterior is covered in hide (probably goat or cattle).
    One of the four hide fringes have come off but is inside the basket and could be re-attached.  The strap which would go over he head and shoulders of the carrier is missing.  Otherwise, the inside weaving and the outside hide are in great condition.
    The diameter of the basket is 13.5", and the height is 10".
