    Description

Wow! I haven't ever seen another mask quite like this. I'm pretty sure it's African. The fellow I got it from thought it was an Ekpo Ibibio mask from Nigeria. I don't have a better idea but it is certainly a nice bit of carving, all from one chunk of wood! There is absolutely no doubt that this has been long used. The acquired patina and obvious wear are clearly indicative. One word to describe its countenance? Glowering. Virtually no problems with this mask - no losses or damage, it is heavy and solid. 11 1/2" x 8 1/2", wired to hang (it also stands sturdily). U.S. buyers please. [Boston Primitive]
