Fine Authentic Old MAMBILA MASK Cameroon Africa PROVENANCE! [Boston Primitive]

Description

Offered is a very large Mambila helmet mask from Cameroon in acceptable heavily used condition. This is a highbred creature with various animal features including a highly phallic nose with its tip ending in a cup (?!). There is a large carved animal of some kind perched upon its head; I hesitate to guess what it might be but it has teeth. This animal has the typical Mambila "pop-eyes" (see the other Mambila mask I have listed). It is a whopping 17" tall/long and quite heavy.
This mask comes with a printed and laminated provenance signed by LitFung Liu, owner of Gotham Gallery, attesting that it was previously in the collection of John Sidike, NYC. U.S. buyers please. It will be somewhat expensive to ship. My shipping quote includes
