Description
Impressive Meissen Sitzendorf figural candlestick, now converted to an exquisite table lamp, stands about 18" tall, from the base to the socket, and portrays a young gentleman in 18th century costume, standing on a base of figural roses and foliage, measuring about 7 1/4" in diameter. Beautifully modeled in glazed white porcelain, the figure and base are handsomely accented with gilding. In very good as found condition, there are minor losses to some fingers, as well as small chips to the roses and leaves, and the candle cup is loose at the top under the lamp switch, but overall, in remarkable condition, considering the age. In good working order, the cord is rather short and might be replaced, we do not know when the piece was wired as a lamp, but the candlestick itself bears the under glaze blue Sitenzdorf mark use between 1887 and 1900. There is no lampshade.A rare and wonderful addition to any room, the lamp is offered with out reserve.
