Tchokwe African mask. Finely carved wooden mask purchased at an auction. Believed to be mid 20th century or earlier. Wooden mask is 8.5 inches from chin to top of forhead; from ear to ear, it is 6 inches wide, the mask portion is 3 inches deep Fiber hood is woven and braided natural material probably from grass or bark. The whole piece with fiber hood is 12 x 9 x9 inches. No other provenance known.
