Characteristic of Guere-Wobe masks, this mask is made from diverse materials: wood, feathers; a burlap-like material at top and sides similar to a headband that descends along the sides ultimately becoming loose to create forelocks/side extensions; the burlap-like material also is used to create a “horn” affixed to the mid-forehead; the feathers are inserted in the top of this horn; shells are affixed to wood protrusions located on both temples; a raffia-like material is affixed under the portions of the burlap-like material to the back of the mask; a metallic material encircles the eyes.
Information and the only claim with respect to authenticity about this mask are taken from notes and sketches by Ellen Hobbs. Her sketch is shown with the photos of the mask. No other representations of authenticity are made.
