    Description

I HAVE TO SELL MY 45+ YEARS COLLECTION OF AFRICAN MASKS!
This is an excellent Gurunsi Nunuma mask from Burkina Faso, Africa. Damage-free, with an attractive, even, acquired patina using the color scheme typical of works from Burkina Faso: red, black and white. This example is remarkably carved from a single piece of wood. Worn as a "helmet" atop the head. I am supposing that it represents a combination of several animals with long pointed ears, large flat horns, a prominent hooked beak and
    chameleon
eyes. This comes with a good provenance printed, laminated and signed by LitFung Liu, director of Gotham Gallery, it attests that the mask is early-to-mid 20th century and it was acquired from antique dealer Marc Silver in NYC in 2009. Looks great on a wall, stands solidly, too. It is 21" long and heavy so shipping won't be a bargain but I refund any overage from my estimate. U.S. buyers please. [Boston Primitive]
