This really is a gorgeous work of art, impressively carved from a single piece of wood. Yaure masks are heavily influenced by the work of their neighbors the Baule people and the face of this example has much similarity to their carvings. The best word to describe this fine mask is "delicacy", exquisite detail throughout. I hope my pictures can successfully communicate that. From the elaborate superstructure to the unusual beard/goatee treatment it is certainly one of the better of this type that I have seen. Everything about this mask says "best". I will let the pictures of this genuine old artifact speak for themselves. U.S. buyers please. [Boston Primitive]
