    Brown rag/cloth was removed from the mask. White dots with some abrasion on deformed nose. Of the fifteen forms of circumcision dance masks this deformation mask depicts an epileptic or mbangu. Other tribes with similar deformation types masks are the Makua from Tanzania and the Ibibio of Nigeria. The Pende tribe are mostly farmers who are not governed by a central authority, but pay allegiance to family chiefs who are sometimes assisted by various nobles. Young men are organized into age groups and pass initiation stages, including circumcisdion. Pende art had many aesthetic traditions.
