This one is large and a Rare pre 1940’s African Tribal Baule Buffalo Mask. This Bonu Amwin Baule Buffalo mask represents a Buffalo’s head with a pair of crescent-like horns, bulging round eyes, a T-shaped long nose, and a large rectangular open mouth with exposed tongue and teeth. Its stylized features inspired Picasso’s costume designs and other art work. This one is painted black, with white and red pigments. The mask was originally worn only by warring men. Most recently 20th C used to protect villages. 31” long, 11” wide, 10” depth. Condition is "Used". Some scratches, chips, but good consistent with age. From private collection.
