From West African country Ghana comes this rough hand-hewn painted and ornamented with hammered metal Babanki/Bamileke Grassland elephant mask as wall art.
This mask is the typical Babanki style of hand crafted wood, brass, and copper. They are worn on top of the head during dance ceremonies and funeral processions. This Babanki Elephant mask measures 24 inches by 8 inches and has a clipped ear. Please see the last photo for further historical reference.
