VTG WOODEN MASKS GHANA, METAL ADORNMENT, 18”, 1960-70s Set Of 2.
You’re bidding on both of these masks… Found these in boxes from my in-laws and one is marked handmade in Ghana the other is unmarked, suspect they’re both from Ghana.
I believe that these are probably circa 1960s to 70s, they are definitely hand carved you can see the chisel marks, they each have flat head nails to fasten the metal adornments, as well as the thin leather strap used to hang the pieces.
I don’t know if the metal on each mask has been painted or if the larger mask which is 18 inches long, has a metal that oxidized to a brown color and the smaller mask has a metal that’s kind of a silver color.
I’ve taken pictures of all the views of these two pieces and can tell you I find no damage to either piece. Combined they weigh over 3 1/2 pounds and they will be carefully package for shipping.
