    Description

    A beautifully hand carved mask from the Yombe peoples, Congo / DRC, Africa. Carved by a master. This is an "Nganga" divination mask from the Yombe or Bakongo peoples of the DRC/ Congo, central Africa. The diviners are believed to have special powers, enabling them to determine the causes of various events & circumstances within the tribal community - including illness, natural disasters, etc. Such masks are thought to represent the spirits that are evoked by the diviners who wear them. Mask is being sold with the display stand. The diameter is 12 inches high and 7 inches wide but with the display stand is 14 inches high.
